This weekend my parents were in Redding and Chico. My Mom was speaking at BloodSources Donor awards luncheon’s. There were about 250 people at each luncheon and they were all invited for donating ALOT of blood! Some people have donated over 100 times! I don’t know if you guys know this or not but I am alive today because of blood donation. One of the side effects of my Liver Disease is internal bleeding. One time I had a really big bleed and I don’t remember that much about it because I was pretty much passed out but I know that my Mom has told me a lot of times how thankful she was when the nurse came in with the bag of blood and hooked it up to me, she said that she could see the color start to come back into my face and lips and I could hold my head up again. All I remember is feeling really weak and sick. Its kind of weird to think that some stranger saved my life that day and they will never know it. So today I wanted to send out a thankyou to all the blood donors out there, but I have a very special thank you to Joseph Covert. Yesterday when Joseph was called up at the luncheon to receive his 400 Centennial award my Mom and Dad said he was crying and after being given the cool blue award he turned and walked over to my parents and gave the award to them and asked them to give it to me! My Mom of course said she was crying and this time even my Dad was welling up. I’m not exactly sure how much blood Mr. Covert donated but I’m pretty sure it’s over 40 Gallons! Thank you Mr. Covert.

Dear Connor,
My husband received one of those blue drop awards, too a couple of years ago. He was a fire captain for Sac City Fire for 30 years! I will make sure he sees this cuz it will make his day, just like it will for Mr. Covert. thanks for making people feel so special!

I welled up and don’t know him either, Connor. What a kind, generous gesture. And also for your mom and dad to help people make the connection between the need for organ donors and blood donation. When we do the things that we can to touch people’s lives for the better, what a wonderful world it can be. Thanks for posting on this, Connor!
